Our Swing Arm Bumper: The Story Behind the Design
Share
At Aareys, we're all about creating solutions for our own van life adventures. When we first set out on our family road trip in our Class B Ram Promaster van, we quickly realized that we needed more storage space. We searched high and low for a bumper with swing arm storage for spare tires or boxes, but we just couldn't find exactly what we needed. That's when we decided to take matters into our own hands and create our own custom bumper.
We knew that designing and building a bumper from scratch would be no easy feat, but we were determined to make it happen. We reached out to Spencer Sharp with Sharp Engineering to help us turn our vision into reality. Working together, we went through multiple iterations of the design, ensuring that it would work seamlessly with our van and meet all of our needs.
Once we had a final design in hand, it was time to start building. We partnered with a local manufacturing plant to fabricate the various components and assemble the bumper. It was a lot of hard work, but seeing our idea come to life was worth every minute.
We're thrilled to say that our swing arm bumper is now complete and ready to hit the road with us. We're preparing for a 6-week long road trip to test it out, and we couldn't be more excited. The bumper is designed to make packing and unpacking a breeze, and it provides the extra storage space we need for all of our gear. We're looking forward to sharing more about how we pack and travel with our bumper in future posts.
Creating our swing arm bumper was an incredible journey, and we're excited to share our story with others. We hope that our experience inspires other van lifers to think outside the box and create their own custom solutions. Thanks for following along, and happy travels!
